JIRA Client 2.2 Released
April 29, 2010
Today we're releasing JIRA Client 2.2, the next major upgrade of our desktop client for Atlassian JIRA. This main feature of this version is support for JIRA 4.1.
Support for JIRA 4.1
JIRA version 4.1 introduced and changed a lot of things that affected JIRA Client compatibility, as well as compatibility with other remote clients. This release fixes all the problems discovered in integration with JIRA 4.1.
This is one of the rare cases when a previous version of JIRA Client will not work with the next version of JIRA. Please upgrade if you're using or intend to use JIRA 4.1.
Other Improvements
Besides support for the latest JIRA, this version has several bug fixes and improvements that we hope you will appreciate. Some of them are:
- New column was introduced that displays status, type and priority icons together. You can also sort issues by this column's value! (Use Ctrl+] or "..." button to configure table columns.)
- You can now reload JIRA configuration for a single connection - use Right-click | Reload JIRA Configuration on the connection icon.
- On Mac OS X and Linux, the Quick Export command has been added, which was previously available only on Windows. What it means is "repeat the last export operation and open the file in the associated application."
The full list of the fixes and improvements is available in the change log.
How to Upgrade
To upgrade from a previous version:
- Backup your workspace.
- Install the new version over the old one and start JIRA Client.
- Reload JIRA configuration using Connection | Reload JIRA Configuration.
This version may be used in a free 30-day trial mode, or with any JIRA Client license key with active maintenance subscription.
As always, many thanks to everyone who sent us feature requests and bug reports on the previous versions and the beta version. Please, keep feedback coming!
