JIRA Client 2.3 Released

July 09, 2010

Today we're releasing JIRA Client 2.3, the next major upgrade of our desktop client for Atlassian JIRA. This release adds several long-awaited features and improves integration with JIRA.

This version introduces the following features:

  • Comments can now be edited in JIRA Client if the user has sufficient permissions in JIRA.
  • Support for converting issues into sub-tasks and vice versa, as well as moving sub-task to another parent issue.
  • See the list of issues you have recently changed, using Ctrl+/ or click on the status bar message.
  • Issue table configuration (columns, sorting order) is remembered separately for each query.
  • Query Builder allows to search for issues that have no value in a given field.
  • New search condition in Query Builder, Text Search, works like Quick Search field at the top of the main window.
  • Finding issues with Quick Search by specifying only the number part of the issue key.
  • Navigation area can now be hidden with a button on the toolbar, or by double-clicking on a tab.
  • Background synchronization can now be suppressed for selected connections by using Right Click | Get Changes in Background.

Moving issues to sub-tasks requires JIRA 3.9 or later, and editing comments requires JIRA 3.11 or later.

Besides the new features, we have fixed a number of bugs in JIRA integration and significantly improved support for JIRA Studio. See the change log for details.

How to Upgrade

To upgrade from a previous version:

  1. Backup your workspace.
  2. Install the new version over the old one and start JIRA Client.
  3. Reload JIRA configuration using Connection | Reload JIRA Configuration.

This version may be used in a free 30-day trial mode or with any JIRA Client license key with active maintenance subscription. JIRA Client Lite may be used freely with any JIRA server running on a Starter license, or with a JIRA server that hosts a sponsored open-source project.

As always, many thanks to everyone who sent us feature requests and bug reports on the previous versions and the beta version. Please, keep feedback coming!
